On August 23, a group of us (RRC Youth Group) joined Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) Cedar Springs to help build beds for children in our area who don’t have one of their own. Did you know that there are literally hundreds of kids in West Michigan on SHP’s waiting list? That day, 30 children received beds—and all of it was done in the name of Jesus Christ!

Now, we have another incredible opportunity. On Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 9:00 AM to noon, SHP Cedar Springs will be taking part in Bunks Across America, a nationwide event where hundreds of SHP chapters in hundreds of different locations will come together to build tens of thousands of beds for children across the U.S. Several of our youth group students are already planning to attend, and we’d love to invite our whole church family to join in too!

This is service in its most “real” and tangible form—power tools, lumber, stain, and sweat—all for the sake of being Jesus to children we’ve never met—children who are hurting and in desperate need of Him. It’s also an awesome chance to partner with other local churches as we serve together. All that’s required is a willingness to show up (wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty or stained) and get to work!

Let’s take hold of this opportunity—not just to build beds, but to answer the call our Youth Group students challenged us with earlier this month: to be servants of Christ who point others to Him through our service.
